Salsa Recipes to Spice Up Your Summer

We love our smoothies, but the Solo Blend is no one-trick pony. One of our favorite things to make with the Solo Blend is vibrant, juicy, spicy salsa. Making salsa in the blender is the perfect way to enjoy a fast, nutrition, delicious snack on the go. Here are our two favorite blender salsa recipes: classic red and vibrant verde!

Blender Salsa Basics

To make salsa to your taste, you’ll want to mix your ingredients to the right consistency. Ease up on the blending for a chunky version, or blend longer for smoother, restaurant-style salsa. While you can devour it straight away, it’s best to let it sit in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or longer to allow the flavors to fully mix.

Classic Blender Salsa

  • 1  can whole peeled tomatoes with their juices
  • 1/2 small red onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1-2 jalepenos with seeds removed (choose your spice level), chopped coarsely
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • Juice of one lime

Salsa Verde

If you have a little more time on your hands, no snack is quite as refreshing as salsa verde. For this, you’ll have to roast the tomatillos and jalapenos beforehand. Set the oven to broil and roast the tomatillos and peppers for 4-5 minutes until charred. Flip and roast on opposite side. Then add these to the other ingredients in the blender and blend to your desired consistency.

  • 1 ¼ pound  tomatillos, husked
  • 1 jalapeno
  • 2/3 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 sugar, to taste
  • 1 Tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 3 TBS water
